UM Higher Education PhD student Brandon McLeod presented at the NAFSA: Association of International Educators Annual Conference & Expo in Washington, DC over the summer.

NAFSA is the world’s largest nonprofit association dedicated to international education and exchange, working to advance policies and practices that ensure a more interconnected, peaceful world today and for generations to come.

“This was my fifth NAFSA conference and first time presenting at the national conference,” McLeod said.  “NAFSA is an important professional development opportunity for me and a chance to network as well as share the skills I have learned.”

McLeod co-facilitated a roundtable discussion titled, “International Scholar Support at Small and Midsize Schools.”  The focus of these discussions centered on processes and procedures relating to onboarding, campus engagement, technology and media for compliance and ongoing communication to help educators from similar institutions address many of the issues they face when handling international scholars.

More than 10,000 international educators from more than 100 countries gathered to collaborate and learn from each other through a comprehensive program of preconference workshops, educational sessions, networking opportunities, inspiring plenary speakers and special events.
