McClellan to Present at NASPA Conference

by UM School of Education on February 13, 2019

George McClellan, UM associate professor of higher education, will present at the Student Affairs Administrators in Higher Education (NASPA) Conference in Los Angeles, California, in March.

The conference will run from March 9 – 13, 2019.  McClellan will be a participating presenter in the pre-conference hosted by the Indigenous Peoples Knowledge Community (IPKC).  The program will focus on recent developments in research and practice related to supporting the success of Indigenous students in higher education.

“I am a founding member of the IPKC in NASPA, and I have done research, writing, and advocacy in this area for years,” McClellan said.  “I am also presenting two conference sessions.  One is on power, politics, and the practice of student affairs (something I believe we ought to teach more about in graduate programs).  The other is on shared governance and student affairs (a topic of a book on which I am currently working and something which I think folks in student affairs need to better understand).”
